...help BMW with the next Z4, get it's own version.
"BMW is not involved in the new Supra. I just wanted to make that clear," confirms our insider.
"What I can say is that Toyota is involved in the development of the all-new BMW Z4."
This is confusing, maybe this will be a Lexus, so Toyota will have it's 3 sports car strategy(with the 86 in the middle and Supra on top). In the end, a car like the Z4 would be perfect for Lexus.

After the success of Honda's S2000 I really like the idea of Toyota building another convertible. Just don't call it the MR2. Call it the MR3.
And if BMW was assisting the development of an all-new Z4, as luxury segment vert, then I could see Toyota marketing the vehicle under the Lexus badge. Whatever happens, it should be exciting.

It won't be an MR, MR means mid engine and rear wheel drive, this will most likely have the engine in the front. That's what the FR-S stand for, frond engine, rear wheel drive, sports car.

Wait, if it's all-new wouldn't it be the Z5?

Don't think so, I guess they decided to keep the Z4 name, in case they will want to expand the Z line.

Picture got Kinja'd (a fix for this is usually to save it to your computer and then upload it directly).
What would they expand the Z-line to? Curious.

I don't know, I got no rumors on that, but they just left their door open, in case they will want to add a smaller Z1/Z2/Z3 or a bigger Z7, new Z8, Z9 etc. Like Mazda is doing too, they will call the next rumored rotary sports car, RX-7, but not only to link it to old RX-7, but to leave room for a possible new RX-8, RX-9 or RX-10, in case they will want to make one.
